Amyloidosis

In our endeavours to research Amyloidosis we conversed with a number of vets who have been treating Shar - Pei in Australia for around 15 years. From what we could establish neither of these vets had seen a case of Amyloidosis in their clinic. One vet, who treats a good majority of Victoria's Shar -Pei population, told how he had diagnosed the first case of it in Australia in siamese cats, but had never seen in in his many years of treating hundreds of Shar-Pei. It has been said that their have been cases of Amyloidosis in other states however, having no firsthand experience we cannot say that this is a problem in the bloodlines in Australia although further investigation into the breed will elaborate this further. If you have information on this topic it would be appreciated.
