Over the
last two years the Australian Shar-Pei Society has promoted our dogs to
the general public by participating in the Peninsula Pet & Pony Expo
at Rosebud, complete with a social dog show, showbags, and a great opportunity
for all members to catch up with each other. We work towards a few events
each year for the members to get together with and without their dogs.

Members came along with their dogs and although it was a very hot day (mid 30’s), fun was had by all. Chris Armstrong and Joanne Derman relieved the heat by having a water fight, much to the kids delight. Father Christmas managed to find us amidst the many people that were there on the day and brought presents for the very happy children. Special thanks to Tracey O’Connell for the apparel, Chris Armstrong and Robyn Moody for all their efforts in getting the day organised, Peta Cohen and Adam for supplying the delicious salads, and Santa’s Helper (Peta Andrews) for arranging the presents. |

The first club event went of with little problems thanks to the effort of many committed members. We have to give a special thank-you to Ian Cooper who got to the site with the tent and trestle tables at 5am and set everything up. Good Work Ian!!!!!!!! We were invited by the Schipperke club to participate in a fun match against the Schipperkes and Dalmatians. We dragged people in that didn’t have the first idea about handling dogs and we all had a good laugh. Jarrod from Rumetomove and Peta Andrews did a treck round the Expo and sold as many raffle tickets as we could to the other exhibitors. Our advertisement in the local paper was mentioned by a number of people who came especially to see the Shar-Pei. A representative of The Independent News dropped past whilst we were waiting to go in for the fun match and we got a few pictures taken. Above are two pictures that appeared in the local newspapers the week after the Expo. |
